my first ruffles!

it's always exciting to try something new and have it turn out right. :) this is beautiful indalee wearing shorts i made her - i wanted to try ruffles and my friend kate (indalee's mama) said it'd be ok but nothing super girly. i followed the instructions here and they turned out super cute with just the perfect amount of girliness. ;) hehe, curran has a pair of shorts in this same yarn, i love it! it's lindon merino from three irish girls. i'll have to try to get a pic of them together...

local mamas co-op at the earth day festival!

our booth! this was a first for all of us and our setup wasn't great but we had a blast and can't wait for the next one!

pixie hats - a couple sold, the rest i'm working on listing on etsy...

peace shirts - they all sold, yay!

not a very good pic but these are cute zebra tails for kiddies to pin on their pants - i thought they'd be a hit, but maybe i priced them too high? ($5 wdyt?)

overall - it was a successful day and i'm so glad my crafty mama friends wanted to do this with me!

it's been a while... again!

i've been crafting little things here and there but i haven't been very good about taking pics, oopsy! i made my good friend claire a pair of shorties for her baby zion but i don't have a pic yet, will need to do that. i have a few pixie hats knit up that i'm going to try and sell at the earth day festival coming up along with other little things... when i get it all together, i'll snap a pic and post it. :) for now, this is the best i can do - first, a rasta/punk hat i made for myself - i combined 2 patterns for this and added a little length on the top and did the decreases my own way. aaron's hat is the waffle hat pattern i used and then i used the brim instructions from the newsboy hat in stitch n bitch nation - i love how it turned out! going to try a kid's version next...

then i made this patchwork fishy outfit for the fluff factory charity auctions...i love how it turned out and will definitely make curran a set! i did not make the awesome cloth diaper, that's from luxe baby diapers.

aspen's iris pants

these pants are for sweet little aspen, she's just 10 days older than curran! i traded with her mom geneva - she made me a gorgeous handwoven scarf, i will try to get a picture of it today... the yarn is from zen string in their iris colorway.

basket o' prefolds

a very patient customer of mine sent me prefold diapers to appliqué for her - she was so great to work with because she knew exactly what she wanted and chose many of my favorite appliqués to do! thanks so much melissa! i hope you like them!!

small, medium, large

got a few more pairs of patchy pants done - doggy pants for estin, polka dots and stripes for my nephew reed, and itty bitty doggy pants for curran. i've never made pants so small but they turned out so cute! i'll try to get some pics of him wearing them soon...

peace, booties, hat, & more patchy pants...

i could do separate posts for all of these, but i'm feeling lazy and want to keep it simple - so here are some recent fo's (finished objects)...

first up - my little peace baby. a customer is sending me some prefold diapers to appliqué for her and it's been a while since i've turned my sewing machine on, so i figured i better get back in the groove. i tried out the appliqué stitch on the outer edge and wasn't too happy with it, i think i'll stick with plain, ol' zigzag until i can figure out the right settings for it.

then we've got some booties from leftover sweater yarn - i love these, they are so cute and they actually stay on even when he crawls around! (pattern here)

next is more leftover sweater yarn, a pixie hat for estin. i really love this pattern (scroll down), so much that starting in february i will be licensed to sell hats made from it!

and last - i finally finished another pair of patchy pants, i used some heather ross doggy prints so dade calls them his doggy pants. they turned out a tad baggy, especially now that he's wearing underwear more often than diapers but oh well. that's what i get for not using a pattern, lol!

for me, for me!

this hat is the first thing i've ever knit for myself, it was about time! i used zen string's handspun, the pics really don't show off how cool this yarn is. i also followed their pro bono pattern for the hat and honestly haven't taken it off since i finished it!

for a new baby

my friend sara asked me to knit a little set for her new niece or nephew due in february. she gave me these great yarns to work with even! i love how everything turned out! i'm definitely going to knit up some booties for curran, they are so cute and fast!

patchy gnome pants

i finished these a while ago but forgot to post a pic, they turned out so cute! the cool matching shirt was wahm-made by terri of full moon baby gear and the sewing is absolutely perfect!

just a couple more hats

this one was awful to make, i used this super bulky yarn i picked up at joanns, i needed a quick gift for a party we went to for the gift exchange. my hands actually cramped up knitting with it! i thought it turned out looking pretty cool, but the recipient wasn't all that pleased with getting a handknit hat, haha. next year, we'll just bring booze. ;)

this one was for my brother-in-law, dan (aka uncle booney) and this was the best pic i got of him wearing it. as usual curran likes to model any hat i make. it was a tad short on him and i felt bad but i thought the colors were perfect for him. the yarn is bulky bfl from selah.

for indalee zuri

i just finished this set for my good friend kate's daughter indalee. she was born a couple months after curran and they are pretty close buddies. kate's hubby kevin is a photographer and took a bunch of pictures of our family - he took the one we used for our holiday card. :) the yarn is stallion organic merino and was awesome to knit with, so soft! it's from dashing dachs.
